Field interview
It was a massive headache, Thandi. We’d have delivery trucks lining up at dawn and suddenly three people wouldn’t show up for their shift. I was stuck under a "fixed-cost ceiling" - I couldn’t hire extra permanent staff just to sit around, but I was losing money every time the warehouse floor was short-staffed.

Field interview
Agile Logistics in Epping 2
Thandi spoke with Christopher after a JobZapp booking in the Northern Suburbs, recorded 2 Apr 2026.
Thandi · interviewer
I am here at the Tygerberg Logistics Hub in Epping 2 with the Warehouse Manager, Christopher. Chris, you run a massive operation right near Jakes Gerwel Drive. Before JobZapp, you faced a constant "Availability Crisis" with your morning shifts. What was that like for the team?
Christopher
It was a massive headache, Thandi. We’d have delivery trucks lining up at dawn and suddenly three people wouldn’t show up for their shift. I was stuck under a "fixed-cost ceiling" - I couldn’t hire extra permanent staff just to sit around, but I was losing money every time the warehouse floor was short-staffed.
Thandi · interviewer
So you were caught between high overheads and missed targets. How did switching to our on-demand model change your day-to-day?
Christopher
It completely changed the game. Instead of stressing over absenteeism, I now use the platform to source hourly picker packers. If I see a surge in orders or a gap in the schedule, I can instantly scale my team with vetted and shift-ready Workers .
Thandi · interviewer
And these are workers who can hit the ground running?
Christopher
Exactly. They show up ready for the high-pressure windows we need. By moving to this hourly model, we’ve eliminated the turnover bottleneck. Our operations stay lean and every Client gets their delivery on time. We are finally as agile as we need to be.
Thandi · interviewer
From "Availability Crisis" to total control. Thanks for the insight, Christopher!
Christopher
Thanks, Thandi. It has made my life as a manager much easier.
